1.Swimming: There’s a reason that so many senior citizens engage in swimming, and that’s because it’s one of the best exercises you can find. 2.Walking: Most senior citizens have the ability to walk in some capacity, and therefore this is a favored type of exercise amongst this set. 5.Stretching: If you can’t quite get into yoga yet or are looking for some simple exercises to do, then stretching can be an excellent type to try out. 6.Biking: This can be easy on the joints as well which makes it a nice option for senior citizens. Those who wish to enjoy a bit of biking can try a stationary bike and then build their way up to be able to test their endurance as they go.

7.Low Impact Aerobics: It’s always important to check with a doctor first, but this can be an excellent type of exercise for senior citizens. There are some great classes or videos out there that target the senior citizen and this can keep the heart beating and the body lean and strong.

8.Elliptical: This is one exercise machine that tends to be safe for nearly everyone. It works the arms and the legs, but in a gentle and effective manner. Senior citizens may enjoy the workout that they get on here, but also find that they have fun doing it.

9.Dance: This is a great way to work off stress, stay fit, and of course get in your daily quota of exercise. For senior citizens that are looking for a fun exercise and outlet, dance is the perfect way to go.

10.Balance Ball: This is great for stability which can be an important aspect of being a senior citizen. This can help to strengthen the core and there are a variety of exercises that senior citizens may find to be helpful as they approach exercise.

Though not all exercises are appropriate for senior citizens, these happen to be top of the pack. These exercises can be great for keeping seniors healthy and strong as they age.
